The $8 million, Del Webb Primary Care Center is an excellent example of healthcare construction pre-planning at the conceptual stage. With its extensive healthcare experience, WDL participated in this project from site location assistance to completion of a design/build, turn-key primary care center. WDL assisted in determining both site selection and suitability for this facility designed to serve the healthcare needs of thousands of retiree residents of Sun City, Palm Desert. Even before the land acquisition, WDL had developed a utilization-driven cost model which determined the center’s functional space program and which was invaluable in assisting in the site location appropriate to the space requirements. Following land acquisition, WDL planning was comprehensive. It included tentative mapping, space planning design and medical equipment planning. WDL also obtained all entitlements and agency approvals.
